UPDATE: My favorite bag has a HUGE hole in one of its pockets. I'm very disappointed with this because it's my everyday bag and it's been less than a year since I bought it. Given the price I can't justify buying it again if it doesn't last a year. I will contact customer service. UPDATE #2: Customer service was very prompt initially but took a while to contact me to determine if damage to my bag was covered under warranty - but they thought it was! They sent me a new bag which I received a day earlier than expected and I can have everything I need with me again! This bag is perfect for me. I have anxiety when I feel very insecure about not having what I consider most important with me at all times. I had a small hiking backpack that worked for a while but I got fed up that it didn't hold its shape well and that it was a huge bag. I also started a job that requires a uniform, so I wanted a bag that she can carry sometimes, as well as a weekend getaway (I'm a small person/I have a fairly light backpack). I tried a Timbuk 2 bag similar to this one but it didn't cut and I returned it. What I like: Compartments and pockets! The laptop compartment is heavily padded and the bag's zipper opens fully to keep the laptop compartment separate from the rest of the bag. This is very appealing to me as I love traveling with my laptop but hate juggling it when trying to get through security. Haven't tried this feature yet, but from what I've read it can either hit or miss, so there's no harm in trying. The middle pocket can be expanded, perfect for weekend trips. A definite plus is that I can use it for everyday life as well as most of the trips I take. The front pocket (not the front half pocket) is surprisingly roomy too. This is one of the features that threw the timbuk2 bag out of the water. This bag is deceptively roomy and I can fit so many things in here. This is the bag I turn to most often. I often add in my lunch and snacks, and quite a bit fits in here. The bag keeps its shape. I like that the bag can sit without leaning against it. I love that it's slim and doesn't look bulky with the minimal straps and design. It's also amazing that the bag doesn't seem heavy to me. It was strange since my previous bag was designed for camping luggage, but I quickly felt tired in my back. Not with this backpack. It feels very comfortable and I don't feel like it looks too big for everything I can carry in it. The only downside that others have mentioned is that it doesn't have a water bottle holder. However, I use the side straps with buckles to hold my water bottle and I use a carabiner on the top strap to attach my bottle to it. This is enough to keep the bottle stable and not pull on the top strap. So it really works. I do feel the buckles feel a bit cheap but they didn't let me down. I love this bag and can only recommend it.
