For the last few years I have tried to buy household products that do not use or contain plastic, both in the product itself and in the packaging. I know it's possible because I'm almost 67 years old and I know nothing has ever been covered in plastic. When manufacturers started introducing plastic packaging and whatnot in the late '60s, people loved them because things don't break like glass or paper garbage bags. Now, 55 years later, we are more aware that with all this plastic we are destroying the planet. Manufacturers and trade do not help with recycling - the responsibility for recycling actually lies with the consumer. However, I was a bit shocked to discover a few years ago that dental floss is made out of plastic, let alone the packaging. Solution? A thread of silk threads and a package of steel! This product is affordable, fully biodegradable and works very well. It takes a few times to get comfortable and not break it in your mouth. This is NOT the teflon coated plastic filament we have all become accustomed to these days. But if you're flossing with plastic every day, a few times a day, that means you're throwing hundreds of strands of plastic into the environment every day that won't decompose for a long time. Our grandparents used dental floss, and so can we. I just want it to be made in the United States. Otherwise well done
