The thing should be in all full face helmets in my opinion but mostly not like my HJC FG-17. I ride a bare/regular bike and no protection/windbreak on the bike, lots of turbulence washing my chin into my breathing chamber. Dust or dirt and even small insects could get in, which is at best a distraction and at worst dangerous. It's a small price to pay to get one of these to keep air and dirt from exploding in your face. They are not intended for thermal insulation. They are made of mesh material so you can breathe. Like other components in many helmets, they are pressed into the seams.
