Review on πŸ”€ StarTech.com SV231DVIUA: Dual Link DVI KVM Switch with Hot-key, Audio Support, and 1920x1200 Resolution by Juan White

Revainrating 3 out of 5

OK with hardware button, support questionable

Use with QNIX QX2710 LED Evolution ll 27" 27" 2560x1440 Samsung PLS (LG IPS) Glossy Screen Panel PC Monitor. Re: The box itself. This is a solid box with good connections. There is a "Select" button on the front to switch sources. Seems to work reliably. Re: support. When I bought the monitor, the seller of the monitor insisted that I check with the KVM manufacturer to make sure it would work. StarTech (KVM maker) said they didn't have a monitor to test and suspected it wouldn't work. Actually it works. I have a wireless keyboard so after reading other reviews I haven't even tried connecting it to the KVM's keyboard port. Having two additional USB ports is a fantastic benefit of this KVM. So I don't have hotkeys, but I still prefer a button. found that hotkey switching was unreliable on most KVMs I've tried). Re: Ease of use. f nit. On the front there are raised translucent indicators in the form of buttons. They are half green, half red when an input is selected, or half green, half dark when no input is selected. This color scheme is a bit unusual for me. But even weirder, because these indicators look and feel like buttons, I keep trying to press the indicator to select an input. The actual selection button is the unlit button on the right. So in the dark you see 2 button-like lights, you try to press them and then you have to look for an unlit selector switch.
