First, I bought this product for an unusual purpose. I'm throwing a tiki themed Halloween party this year and thought pumpkin pineapple lanterns would be the perfect finishing touch. Instead of using real pineapple and making a gooey mess, I decided to try my luck with a plastic one. I bought one not knowing anything about the texture or thickness of the pineapple. I wasn't even sure if it would suit my needs. However, when it arrived I couldn't believe how perfect it was! It's pretty solid yet packable like a heavy duty squeaky toy. When I started cutting it with an X-Acto knife, I noticed that it was light yellow inside, like a real pineapple! It is hollow inside and varies in thickness from 1/4" to 1/2" due to its irregular shape. As an added bonus, there is a round soft spot on the bottom of the pineapple that can easily be cut out, leaving a perfectly sized hole for the LED candle! I just ordered two more.
