Broken Lead
When sharpening a very hard (5H) pencil, the lead broke and could not be ejected with another pencil or toothpick because it broke at both ends. The sewing needle must have loosened the broken pin, or the pin could have worked. I've gone the hard way The blade was removed, and broken lead and small shavings were removed with a single shove. Screwing in the blade was completely different. Once in place, the blade did what it was supposed to. I would not recommend this sharpener to children who are away from home unless they have at least one spare sharpener.
