Review on StarTech.com 3 Port PCI Express USB 3.0 Card + Gigabit Ethernet: Enhanced πŸ–₯️ Connectivity for Standard & Low-Profile PCs - UASP Support, Optional SATA Power - PEXUSB3S3GE by Daryle Grove

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Installed easily on a Windows 10 PC in two awful minutes

My PC's built-in network connection wasn't working; I had an external 4-port USB dangling from the back of the computer; it was the perfect choice for me. Office Depot overpriced Revain by $10, so I settled on Revain. The physical setup was pretty simple. I had a SATA power connector, so I plugged it in. ADVICE FOR PROFESSIONALS. The way the ports face up and down instead of sideways means the card can be moved so the ports don't match. I had to open the case, adjust the card a bit, connect the cable and then tighten the screw. Avoid the extra step of plugging in a cable or USB stick when installing the card to get the correct orientation the first time. This is where it got interesting, but no problem. This may be because I'm running two computers and two monitors through a Dual Link KVMP switch. When I turned my computer back on I wasn't sure if it would boot as none of the monitors worked. I could hear the computer running so I just lay back for about 2 minutes and it felt like 20. Two minutes later, the computer rebooted, the monitors turned on, and I saw the KVMP switch was set. Since then everything works. I've had the card for a week now and it works great.

Pros
  • UASP support
Cons
  • Some little things
