I gave it to my 8 year old daughter and she loves it! It is always her first choice when we go camping, fishing or kayaking. When it arrived she didn't want to take it off because it's so comfortable. The fabric is very light and soft...much better than the synthetic feel sometimes found on these outdoor garments. Thumb loops are minimal, but some might find them useful. I bought her a medium youth size which seemed a bit big at first but actually works well as she is taller than most 8 year olds. All in all, a great all-for-all shirt for an active kid!
