I have an old TV with only one HDMI port. I also have an Apple TV, Nintendo Switch, and Blu-ray player that I want to use on this TV without having to constantly plug and unplug them. With this HDMI switch, I was able to connect all of these devices at the same time and it automatically switches to the correct input. Several comments, as well as the official video, indicate that devices using sleep mode can interfere with the auto-switching feature. I'm happy to report that both my Nintendo Switch and Apple TV are such devices and they still work great with this switch. I just put one to sleep and turn on the other and that switch detects the active device. Also worth noting that my TV still turns on and off when Apple TV goes to sleep/wakes up. I'm not sure how this feature works (does the Apple TV remote communicate directly with the TV, or does the Apple TV send a signal over HDMI to turn the TV on/off), but it still works.
