I'm reluctant to give a negative review on the Monoprice product, but I think this review is justified - the failure rate is too high for such a simple product. I bought several of these a few years ago when I hooked up my house to CAT6. I fell apart while unpacking - not a good sign. For me the other two just didn't work after installation - using a cable straight out of the wall it worked fine. My other two connections dropped to 100Mbps. Luckily, I read the reviews on Monoprice before buying, so I knew some people have high bounce rates. I replaced two connectors with new ones and *BAM* which brought the speed back to 1Gbps. I wanted to warn others here at Revain in advance if they experience disconnects or slow speeds. Have a few spares on hand and replace them before rewiring. Update: 3 years later and 4 others had problems dropping to 100Mbps or had intermittent dropouts. So 100% failure on all sockets that I use regularly. I don't plug or unplug any cables. Therefore, they die or degrade by themselves over time. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
