Can be installed with or without the skirt.

There is a perforated skirt designed to fit over the post. Fits the post without modification on 4" and 5" posts. On 6" X 6" posts, the net overall size is 5.5" X 5.5". The manufacturer says on these posts to omit the skirt because it won't fit around the 6" posts. I used a 3/8" rabbit bit with a big bearing and made a couple passes on the top of the post. This allowed me to use the skirt, which I think looked more finished. Nice product which was easy to assemble.
