I am very happy that I have this radio!

I bought this for security reasons so I can control the CTAF Fq. at my local airports (in some cases required under FAA exemption conditions to operate in controlled airspace) while my drone flies to perform work-related tasks anywhere near manned aircraft traffic patterns. While I agree with other reviewers, this hardware isn't exactly easy to get working with (partly because it's SO feature-packed), once I've set it up, all I have to do is toggle it on and off, install the squelch, and take it Make small changes to Fq. depending on where I'm flying to, which is easy enough. The (telescopic) antenna is probably the weakest part of the whole design, so I don't usually fully extend it. However, on many occasions I have heard pilots announce their approach from 10nm while I have the antenna partially folded (usually 1/2 way) so for me that is not a problem at all. I had this device. It's almost 1 year old now and I have to say I'm very happy with how well it holds a charge and how long the battery lasts (at least with the noise canceller on). It loads VERY fast and I usually turn "LOCK" on. " before throwing it in my bag so it doesn't accidentally turn on when the buttons are touched. Overall, I'm very satisfied!
