I love these plate protectors but recently had to replace them because they had cracks. Bought less than 6 months ago. Living in Ohio I would blame the cold, but that happened during the summer months (not to mention parking in a shady spot at home). I didn't hit anything (and hopefully didn't hit anything while parked elsewhere), but one day I found a crack in the front cover. right in the middle. The back part followed soon after. I didn't expect it to be "hard steel" but it will definitely last more than 6 months.
