After moving into my home 2 years ago I sealed and insulated the basement and attic followed by an energy recovery system with baseboard sealing. all exterior walls. The HVAC consultants who did the work explained that my house is now extremely "tight" meaning the ERV is bringing in fresh air and expelling stale air and the house is no longer losing air. The last thing I want to do is upset the air pressure by choosing the wrong filter after a complicated repair. So I tried the Filtrete 1500 because the top reviewer for this product said it had the lowest pressure drop. I think the Filtrete 1500 works just as well as the Filtrete 1900 and Filtrete 1200 with charcoal in my house (I'll rate them all 5s), but no single filter has been as important as frequent vacuuming. Once a week I use a Miele vacuum cleaner throughout the house and a Swiffer WetJet on wooden floors. I also vacuum the curtains and baseboards about every 2 months. If you do this consistently, dustballs don't have a chance to form and the air being circulated around the house will become cleaner and cleaner over time. The extra housework pays off in better health and reduced expenses. After 2 years of this purification process, my allergies improved so much that I stopped using antihistamines and the filters lasted 3 months with no problem.
