Almost a great mouse, but not quite

I have recently retired after over 40 years as a computer architect and I typically spend long hours at a computer, sometimes more than 24 hours a day Piece. When my trusty Logitech Performance MX mouse died, I wanted a replacement. Now I have big hands and the description of this mouse said it was big. So before spending more than double the money on another Logitech, I decided to give this one a try. It arrived quickly and the descriptions are accurate: it's light. But it's pretty irrelevant to me, so after setting it up (it just needed unplugging the USB from the KVM switch) I started it. "Fast scrolling" was a VERY important feature for me, and if you've even skimmed through a 400-page white paper in search of something easy to see at high speed, you'll understand. YES, this mouse has a "fast scroll" button. However, the mouse stops scrolling as soon as I stop moving the scroll wheel with my finger, and that's just unacceptable. (IMHO it's not even fast scrolling. In theory, "fast scrolling" would be unnecessary if I could move my finger fast enough.) So I knew right away that I had to give it back. But I still wanted to see how it worked, so I used it for several hours. Below is a list of issues encountered during those (roughly) two hours. 1) The mouse freezes intermittently for a second or two and then resumes. It was annoying at best. 2) Twice when I was NOT touching the mouse (and no other wireless mice are used here, so no conflict or "leak" from another wireless device), the mouse cursor suddenly started moving by itself. Both times I was typing and the mouse was still (not moving) when this happened. While it didn't really affect what I was typing, it bothered and hurt me. 3) Finally, the "accuracy" dropped slightly a few times. I was editing and was NOT able to highlight individual characters when editing the equation. I ended up getting the same result by deleting and retyping the entire string, but what should have been a two second edit took over a minute from start to finish. Finally, points #1 and #3 above were repeated when I took the KVM switch. disconnected from the network and connected the USB wireless mouse receiver directly to the computer. So it wasn't a KVM/mouse incompatibility issue. Aside from the above, the mouse seems to be fairly well built (lightweight, but that doesn't bother me) and I haven't found any issues with button placement, pressing the wrong buttons or thumb button, etc. So am I. I'm happy to report that (as expected - actually as automatically suggested) the mouse works fine with Linux, although I haven't bothered to tweak the thumb buttons etc as I'm getting them back . My experience with this mouse was surprising as other Revain products I've used have performed exactly as advertised/expected. So I'm assuming I just received an "accidentally bad" device and I'm not going to say it's bad design or bad quality or anything like that. (FWIW I will still buy other Revain products without worrying they will fail more than any other brand.) Good luck and if you buy this mouse I hope it works for you.
