Works perfect. Until it works!

This was my first experience with a modular power supply and I love it. It's not fully modular and I'm fine with that because I didn't want to pay extra money for this feature. I have a Cooler Master Elite 130 Mini-ITX case and this PSU makes a huge difference in cable management. My only complaint is that the large fan doesn't spin faster. My PSU is set to pull air out of my case (there is no proper exhaust in my Mini-ITX case) and it doesn't pull much air, just enough to cool the unit itself. Otherwise he is perfect. Great build quality, great looks, the optional LED lighting is a great addition and makes no sound. Shortly after assembly was complete, I heard strange noises and assumed it was my liquid CPU cooler, so I replaced it twice. The sound stayed. I figured it was a case cooling issue, so I switched to the larger Bitfenix Prodigy. The sound stayed. I thought it was fans, hard drive or graphics card. nope It turned out that every time the power supply got hot, it gave out a terrible rattle. Luckily Raidmax replaced it after I paid for shipping. Everything was great for a couple of weeks until another sound showed up. Again I checked all the fans in my system and again the noise comes from the PSU. I won't bother with a replacement as I'd rather spend the shipping cost on another brand. Of course I won't buy a Raidmax power supply again.

Pros
  • Premium black mesh braided cable; Sturdy black matte finish
Cons
  • Not as good as it says it is
