I bought a dvr8-5580. The Revain delivery was excellent. As for the product, first impressions were that it was all plastic; cheaply constructed, but still I wasn't expecting anything from the wow department. Assembly is easy, plug and play. The video quality was ok for 4k, my Samsung 1080p smartphone was no different. Why was it given 2 stars now? First it was a video recorder with a spotlight and a siren. After switching on and updating, the firmware does not support containment, i.e. no searchlight or siren is detected. Having rendered the spotlight on the camera useless turns out I'm not the only one having such a problem. Called support, they told me I need level 2 technically for another firmware update. Then it was said to expect a call in 2-3 hours. It never happened. If you are looking for a 4k system the nvr version 8805 is better. I choose the dvr because of my existing setup which already had the bnc cable connected. Next came the fan noise, no idea why Swann used such a loud fan to cool the system, for a 40x10mm fan it's loud. A constant hum, if you'd ever had a computer in 1999 it would have been on all day and night. As for the application, easy setup, easy navigation. The downside is its lag. The main stream on your phone is sharp but choppy, the sub stream is a little smoother in motion but blurry - that's the quality. Samsung's smart thing is terrible, but even it works a little bit better. All in all I would not recommend this device at the moment.
