These filters are Bee Knees. I use this filter in series with a cheap carbon block filter and I NEVER get a bad taste in the water. The water I live in is practically undrinkable, but that completely corrects the situation. I have been using this product for over five years now. Each cartridge lasts a long time. I've been using it for over two years now and haven't noticed any change. I change them every two years just because it seems like a good idea. I don't know how much water I ran through. It only filters my cold line in the kitchen and my ice maker. Good product. Update: I've been using a two-stage system with a UDS-10EX1 and carbon filter for over a decade; I'm still very satisfied. However, I went into a different state and the flow rate dropped below 1 GPM. I've tried switching filters and only tried using one filter at a time. I can get 1.5 gpm with just one filter installed, but the flow stays below 1 gpm with both filters installed. Eventually I came to the conclusion that the water pressure in my new house is much lower than in my old house. I haven't tested the pressure in the new house yet, so I can't report the numbers. Therefore, when purchasing this cartridge, be aware that using it in series with another 0.5 micron filter may result in unacceptably low flow rates. However, I repeat that this filter produces great tasting water, even on its own, and if its claims of removing other types of dirt are true, it also produces much safer water.
