Review on WD 4TB My Passport Portable External Hard Drive - USB 3.0 - Black (WDBYFT0040BBK-WESN) by David Dortch

CAUTION! I am ashamed that I bought another poor quality WD product. I have spent over $100 on this product and it has worked 4 times in a few months. Now it just clicks and isn't recognized by any of my hardware (windows pc, tablet, etc) and I can't access any of the files I trusted and safely copied. I think it's safe to assume that EVERY product should be stored for longer than a few weeks. Congratulations on the purchase of an expensive new stone! Here's the exercise. I contacted WD for a replacement only to find I would have to find and purchase special packaging to send it back. Then, after spending time and money packing for the return, I have to find a carrier, get it there, pay the shipping, all ON MY BILL, all for a product that should work anyway. Not to mention that I have to send them a hard drive with backups of all my personal data (emails, tax documents, photos, etc.) since I can't access the hard drive to erase that sensitive information. For the gullible customers of a product that was poorly made from the start, this all seems like a lot of hassle and worry. Of course, WD still has a lot to learn when it comes to customer service. NEVER AGAIN! I've had similar issues with WD products in the past (this has happened TWICE!) and I thought I was putting too much faith in a company that constantly makes inferior products and then pushes their customers through expensive tires to save them to get back. If I had spent a little time researching other WD product reviews, I would have realized that I am not alone. Many of these issues are reported in these reviews and all potential customers should take note. As I said at the beginning, BEWARE!
