If you're installing a new Briggs & Stratton engine in an old rake, this is what you need. Modern Briggs engines have a six-pin Molex socket. You will use the connector from this kit to upgrade your mower wiring harness. Briggs has four wires leading to the plug: an orange wire that provides a separate power source for the key and hence any "accessories" like lights (when not in the "run" position); a red wire with a built-in diode that charges the battery (and can be connected to the starter solenoid input if conveniently located); A gray wire that goes to the carburetor and a black wire that grounds the magneto and acts as a switch. Solder the molex pins to the ends of the wires and insert them in the right place. I made a short connector from the starter solenoid input to the molex connector. Since I have accessories, I left the orange wire open.
