I got this for 2 reasons; My 14k gold engagement ring is now too small for me and I wanted something less expensive and more durable to wear when working on a car etc to keep my main ring from wearing out. I also wanted to try the 8mm size; My engagement ring is 6mm and I like both, but this one looks a little sturdier. So far there are no visible scratches on the ring, Tungsten carbide rings are harder and more scratch resistant than gold; break, not bend what could be safer when working with heavy machinery; and cannot be resized. It feels sturdy and very well made, but as the paint is a coating it can end up scratching and revealing the gray tungsten underneath. This is a great quality ring at a great price.
