So far so good: bike racks and bags

Installed this on a Mongoose hitch. If you're getting this for a bike with fat tires, there are probably a few things you should consider: If you're using screws to attach the brackets, screw them to the platform on the outside of the platform to give more clearance. came with a scanned code that takes you to a video that is rubbish. The video has more dislikes than likes. The video should show you how to put everything together, not just some guy putting everything together to music (no instructions). There are 3 different screw lengths. short, medium and long. I used shorts to connect the brackets to the platform. I used the long ones for the clips on the bottom insert. And for the rest I used mediums. You have to make a decision to make sure the length you use doesn't affect the tire. Installing this on a 4" thick Mongoose hitch bar will leave about 1/2" of space between the bar and the bolt. I doubt there will be any problems, but it looks like a problem. the length of the bracket that you tighten with the hex bolt. I don't really like it because when a person sits on the platform the screw holding the mount in place gets pushed down. There shouldn't be much pressure as there is more pressure on the clamp that is held to the perch. I think the company could improve this if the extended bars were ribbed when you tighten the socket head screw that attaches them to these edge. - There are 2 rubber pads that you use to cushion the clamp on the perch. - There are 4 sticky foam pads that you use to stick to the clamps that clamp the bike frame. All in all I have yet to test it with the person sitting on it, so I bought it (along with the seat cushion). Assembly took a long time as I had to swap out screws (by size) that seemed to fit better in certain places. My seat had to be raised a bit higher to keep the platform from hitting the tire, so that's something I need to take care of. The bolts seem dangerously close to the tire, so I might just have to flip them. If the beam is hit hard or breaks then I believe the bolt will go into the tire although I don't think it will but you can never be sure so I suggest making sure the Bolts are where they aren't going to scratch the tire if that happens.

Pros
  • Easy install
Cons
  • Can't remember but there was something
