Review on HD Multimedia LCD Display, ViewSonic VG2021M by Mustafizur Hunt

The more the merrier: my review

I've had a flat screen (which I've also written reviews about) for a number of years and love how compact and lightweight it is. But since I started working from home, I've found that I need someone in the house with a bigger screen. Having used ViewSonic at work, I was familiar with their quality (and the price was quite reasonable). Even though I had free shipping (from CompUSA) it took a little longer than expected but when it arrived I was thrown. sent back in a handy "suitcase" (I'm still thinking of the old CRT monsters). Installation was pretty easy. The only question I had was regarding the "other" video cable (which I was unfamiliar with); and the instructions didn't say if I just needed a "regular" monitor cable or both (in which case I would need a new graphics card and wouldn't be a happy camper). But I just tried a "standard" cable and everything worked as expected. There's also a pair of small internal speakers; and I mean small, so the audio is small and tinny (not that I'm actually doing anything on my computer that requires real speakers). ViewSonic also supplied a speaker cable (unlike my previous monitor manufacturer). The menu buttons are on the side (which is good), but the indicator icons on the front are simply pushed into the body and hard to see. The menu, like the menu, is unwieldy but no more so than the others (I'm not a big fan of this type of menu anyway). Overall I love my monitor and it is MUCH bigger than my old one. 17". So I'm happy!
