I like it, thanks for the quality product.

I bought this glass quite recently, but already, I think, it is worth drawing a conclusion about it. I am engaged in reportage and portrait photography, I took a lens for the main, to replace the Tamron 28-75, with which I compared it. Sigma FR covers 70% of my tasks, but, unfortunately, it upset me a lot in portraits, it is too focused. At 2.8, you can sit down, shoot a cat with a little bokeh, then stand up and take a sharp landscape photo. there is no blur. Also, I want to comment on some of the disadvantages that other users often mentioned in the reviews. 1. “In the off state, the stabilizer block clanks inside” - I don’t know how it confuses people, I personally didn’t notice the stabilizer movement, even when walking fast, holding the camera in my hands. The minus is completely uncritical and characteristic of many lenses with a stabilizer. 2. “Backfocus” - I read a lot of reviews before buying, 10 out of 60 buyers have misses with focus, but I came across a very successful copy, and this happens to him quite infrequently, ~ 85% of the frames are accurate. 3. “Yellowness” - compared to the tamron that I had before sigma, the yellowness is very noticeable, but a week has passed, and I no longer pay attention to it, just killing it with post-processing. 4. “Lack of dust protection” - this minus is critical for a lens that is positioned as a professional series. The lens is not at all for shooting in dusty / rainy weather. Vacuuming trunk design. 5. “Focus to infinity” - I don’t know if everyone has this, or again it depends on the instance, but mine doesn’t focus to infinity, despite the focus free described above, from the third full scroll of the focus ring, the lens still decides to stop, but, 2 misses out of 3 times . I’ll finish, perhaps, with the fact that all its disadvantages would not be so critical if it weren’t for a professional series, in general, the lens is very good for its money, in many aspects it wipes the nose of 17-40L, perfect for reportage and landscape shooting, and if you are a beginner - a super-replacement for a whale.

Pros
  • - Aperture - Focus speed - good stabilizer - Sharpness (compared to what I used)
Cons
  • - Noticeable fragility (as for the "prof. series") - Frequent misses in focus - Aberrations and barrel (distortion) - Focus free - EF-S
