Replacement Gear to Original Equipment C-5 Corvette Specifications

The right hand headlight on my 2002 Corvette C-5 reliably stopped rising after about 80,000 miles when the car was ten years old. At first it went up when I toggled the headlights on and off a few times and always went down normally. However, after about 5000 miles it made an awful noise and vibrated at the end of the trail as it lowered and no longer opened reliably. Something had to be done. I researched the topic on the internet. Replacement geared motors could be installed at a Chevy dealership for about $500-$250 for the geared motor and an additional $200 for installation. It seemed excessive to me. Some people have reported that the plastic gear in the gearbox is fairly easy to replace. So I made my decision and bought this device. It arrived quickly. I looked at the YouTube removal and repair instructions and followed them carefully. Removal, repair and reinstallation took about three hours in total. Faro cannot be used on the first day while the glue hardens after the repair. The gearbox worked well and the most important thing is the proper sealing of the gearmotor housing after installing the new gearbox. Don't try to use it until the glue has fully cured! One more comment. . . it's a plastic gear. I later learned that the best bronze gear comes at a significantly higher price. I bought this kit for another flashlight as I expect the bronze gear to be more durable. You might want to look into this.
