Includes straps, ropes and 2 very cool T-pads/straps that fit under the inside edge of the hood and/or trunk to attach something. The pads themselves are a kind of padding but nice and firm to keep the boat from sinking too deep and give enough clearance over the roof. For my tandem kayak I flipped it over so the second seat would open over my satellite dish so it wouldn't press on it. I have an electric car so being able to remove this "pillar" is invaluable compared to permanent metal braces with rails so the brace doesn't reduce mileage when I don't need it. The same goes for the petrol car. Drove about 65 mph on the freeway and the kayak wasn't moving. I recommend this product.
