Decent features but unreliable

This review is for the iPL24, some of the reviews I've read lead me to believe they are for a different model. So, I've had this alarm clock for a little over a month now. At first I was just looking for an alarm clock with two alarms, one for me and one for my wife. I saw this and loved the idea of being able to plug my iPhone into it and wake up to music. It also has other features that I need, such as the ability to turn off the display so the light doesn't disturb my sleep. It took me a while to figure out how to set everything up, but I'm used to it now. The watch works mostly as advertised, but there are some caveats. The first thing that struck me was that when I first connected my iPhone I got a message on the phone that the iHome Set app was required. So I downloaded it and was able to dock my phone and automatically update the time on my watch. Relax. I then decided to test what the app was capable of and it kept crashing whenever I tried to set the alarm. It turns out that the application has been unsupported for over a year. Strange. Luckily, the app isn't really needed to use the clock other than to set the time automatically. Although that's not the only thing that's a little off. The docking station is very sensitive with my rather thin cell phone case. I removed the small insert at the top of the radio to improve phone docking, but I may need to do a small operation on my case to improve the connection. Nowadays, a small bedside table and clock and phone forget they are docked. The clock hung up completely once. None of the keys responded. I disabled it to try a restart but the backup battery messed things up. Then I unscrewed the battery compartment, removed and reinserted the button battery, which helped. Last night the watch stopped charging my phone. I thought I might have hit the bedside table again, but it wasn't. The watch just doesn't recognize the phone. Once again I had to restart it by unplugging it and removing the backup battery. I work in IT so I'm used to resetting things to get them working again, but I don't have to reset my alarm twice a month. I'm sure one day it won't wake me up because it needs to be restarted again. For that reason alone, I would advise caution with this purchase.
