Review on Glorious Modular Mechanical Gaming Keyboard - Full Size (104 Key) - RGB LED Backlit by Kari Reynolds

Pretty nice entry-level mechanical keyboard with some quality control issues.

I love this keyboard. I think the frame is well made and feels high quality. I prefer full board, I know it's not cool right now, but I'm not a very cool guy. My last keyboard was an inferior circuit board with blue switches. The idea of clicking buttons sounds cool, but it quickly becomes annoying. I can't stand the click of switches anymore. So I was looking for something quieter with some tactility. I went with brown ones, I know most enthusiasts hate brown ones again vs cool kids switches but I like them. They are much quieter and I like them. I think people should try something for themselves before deciding they hate something based on someone's opinion on Reddit. Now that it's not, I have a few minor complaints. I'm approaching this as a newbie. I'm not a fan of mechanical keyboards. I like a good keyboard, but I don't think your switch choices make you a bad person. Now that my diatribe is over, my problems are: 1) The switches on this board are extremely difficult to remove without damaging them. Some come out easily, others hold on with all their might and don't move. Switching switches is very difficult and is not the idea that was sold to me. 2) The switches have quality control problem. Some of them make an incredibly annoying "ping" sound when you tap them. This is the case with some switches and not with others. This isn't a very common problem, but it will be annoying enough to drive you crazy if you have a bad switch on a button you use frequently. I had one on the Shift key and it was driving me nuts. I contacted GMMK and they said to refund the fee. I got it back but I just used some keys from the board I sent back to replace all the keys on the new board that had this ping. So it took two boards to get a decent keyboard. I just noticed recently that my backspace is now "pinged" by UGH. One more thing, the keycaps that come with the keyboard are of good quality, they are not PBT and not very comfortable. The picture shows the PBT keys I got for 20.00 on Revain. I like the contrast.
