Our Rat Terrier weighs just over 16 pounds 14 inches from base of neck to base of tail but is quite stocky and very muscular with a broad chest so I ordered a medium size - and it fits him perfectly, he's always cold in the winter months, also shivers around the house and just plain miserable on the streets (but he doesn't want to stay cooped up in all of this). time), so I wanted to find something warm that was also durable enough to see through the season. I read a lot of reviews on different sweaters and coats before I happened upon this one and when I saw it I was able to just draw it in. There were few reviews for this brand, but based on the positive comments and the product description, I realized that this is the best option. I'm very glad I bought it - it's well made, VERY heavy and warm and my kids are glad it doesn't look like a wimp in it! He wasn't too keen at first, I didn't know about it, but within a day or two he got used to it and now he likes to wear it every night and when he goes out. Love it so much I've just ordered another one with a different pattern so he has something to wear when this one gets washed (I hand wash and line dry - takes quite a while to dry - it retains its shape and does not shrink). This sweater is great for short haired or fine haired dogs but may be too good for thick haired dogs unless it is very cold.
