Review on Cleanpower Batteries Battery Regenerator Desulfator by Robert Dabney

Revainrating 4 out of 5

It works. Only slower with large batteries

Firstly this is a 2A unit so not big. So it will probably run faster on smaller batteries than on larger batteries. Second, if your battery is fried, it won't and won't be able to fix it. nothing can. Toast means shorted plate, bad cell (one or more of the six cells in a 12 volt battery), bad internal resistance. If your battery is really damaged, it will not revive. Third, let's get rid of some "myths" - other reviewers said that this device can't generate a pulsed current - that's not true - this device makes a high frequency buzzing noise, so at least it's generating some kind of pulse wave. heard. (at least the device I got) NOW, here's how it worked for me. At first my battery was a flooded (wet) 12V 95Ah marine battery. It has NOT been fried or roasted - it sat for a few years but was hardly used. To put it simply, it did NOT work well, it charged quickly, let's say it had "normal" voltage and then discharged much faster than the 95Ah capacity. (about 1/3 capacity, by my standards). QUICK FACT & TIP: Buy a hydrometer. The hydrometer readings indicated a near specific gravity of water. In my case every cell had liquid (never dry) and all six cells read the same. This is the key. One or more electrolytes with a different electrolyte value (specific gravity) may indicate that the battery is weak. Now I put this little devil pulse desulfator on it - it buzzed, I measured the voltage every day - it dropped about 0.1 volts a day. I left it for about 5 days, lowering the voltage from charged 12.6v to about 12.1v. Remeasured electrolytes, now brought out of the water to the 'minimum'. So he did SOMETHING. A quick test showed that the capacity had increased. BUT to get the battery repaired you have to wait an estimated 3-4 weeks with a few charge cycles. That tells me BIG batteries, maybe this device isn't for you. I suspect smaller batteries might help sooner. What helped my battery? Bought a Foxsur Pulse Repair Charger. One repair cycle and I was able to measure the higher specific gravity of the electrolyte. One charge cycle, another discharge cycle, another repair cycle with Foxsur and now this battery reports a "GOOD" (nominal) specific gravity and is almost 100% FULL CAPACITY. In general, battery repairs can most likely only be performed on truly sulfated batteries and not on damaged batteries with shorted or defective cells. For quicker repairs (mostly 2 cycles of 24 hours each) my battery was rebuilt and my fridge freezer is now working successfully.
