I'm a 5'10" guy and weigh 175 pounds. I bought the medium and it fits perfectly. When you put it on dry it's snug but you can still get around move quite freely. When you go in the water it immediately loosens up to the point that if I took a size up it would rise through the water seeping in around the waste. It should be tight when you put it dry. Trust me it's relaxing. Anyone shorter than me should consider getting a size small because you want the drop to be tight. Otherwise the water will shoot in and do its job no. However, if you're just looking for a cool jacket to keep you a little warmer on the beach and don't really care about the actual characteristics of the wetsuit, then I recommend ordering a size up.It dries better.The smell of rubber disappear det after you put it in water. The smell of neoprene doesn't bother me personally. It smells like tire shop. If you're worried about that smell, maybe don't bring a wetsuit or clothes. it looks cool My girlfriend said it makes me look athletic and I'm not. However, I'm pretty skinny. If you have a big belly, this may not suit you. It keeps you warm and cool. I bought it for camping because we are on the Delaware River. There are days when it's cold outside and it makes me shiver. This jacket will keep you warm and you'll immediately notice the difference in and out of the water. At the same time, it keeps you cool in the heat when it gets wet. It blocks the sun and prevents burns while retaining enough moisture to keep you cool. I was torn between this and the short wetsuit but I'm very glad I went for it. It's pretty easy to put on and take off. Easy to open to cool down. And the biggest benefit of a wetsuit is that you don't have to urinate in it. For $30 this is a great product.
