Review on πŸ”Œ Brentwood KT-1508W White Collapsible-Travel Kettle: Dual Voltage 0.8L for 120/220 Volt by Melinda Oliver

Revainrating 3 out of 5

If it works, great, but our camping folding kettle had a broken plug.

We were finally able to boil water with our folding camping kettle. We bought it for an Amtrak trip from Denver to Chicago, but due to COVID restrictions, our trip was delayed twice. When we were able to leave we were so happy to use our new kettle. When we first plugged it in, it did a fantastic job of boiling water in about 6 minutes. I thought I read that it was supposed to turn off when the water boiled, but it's either defective or I misunderstood the function in the description. The water boiled and spurted out of the funnel before we could turn the switch off. The second morning in the Amtrak we tried to use the kettle but it wouldn't come on. I tested the outlet with a phone charger, which worked great, but there was no issue with the power at the outlet. I turned the kettle back on, but nothing. I turned the switch on and off several times, same result, nada. I checked the power cord on the kettle for kinks or damage but didn't find anything out of the ordinary. Finally I moved the plug itself at the end of the cord for the kettle and if you bend it a bit and hold it with your hand the kettle will turn on but as soon as it's released it will turn off immediately. Because Amtrak twice delayed our train travel, then Southwest Airlines canceled our return flight from Chicago to Denver, and twice because of inclement weather, we were delayed two weeks instead of our original five day short trip. When we got back this item was already past the return date which was really frustrating. We still like the kettle, but it's very inconvenient that we have to stand there, hold the plug and sharply bend the power cord to use the kettle. We had high hopes for this kettle. What we really like about the kettle is its foldable design, the amount of water it can boil is perfect for two large cups of coffee, and the short time it takes for the water to actually boil (about 6 minutes). . What we didn't like was, as I said, the defective power cord/plug.
