Review on πŸ”ͺ OptiCut Foamboard Circle Cutter - Logan WA8001 FoamWerks by Carol Miller

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Worked great at first, now it doesn't

I bought this for a fairly large project: I'm making advent calendars for six and needed to cut 6 x 24 holes out of a sheet of foam. I got the cutter, put the blade in (it was a bit tricky to put the blade holder back on but it worked) and started using the cutter. This worked very well for the first two boards (48 holes). Then he began to cling to the edges of the circles. I replaced the blade - there is no difference, the edges were still uneven (see photo). I've found that the whole internal mechanism has kind of loosened up a bit, and even though I've tightened everything up as best I can (and even disassembled and reassembled the whole assembly, the wobble is still there. The product gets three stars because it worked very well for a while but now it's basically useless.I'll be returning it and getting another one.I'll update this review once I get a new one and use it to try and complete the project be closely monitored. The cut is perfectly safe, but you have to "rewind" the cutter after each round, and there's not much way to do that. You have to lay the cutter on its side, which makes it prone to slipping, and the blade is right there.

Pros
  • carpet blades
Cons
  • old
