Review on πŸ’§ LifeStraw Home Water Filter Pitchers and Dispenser: Ultimate Protection Against Bacteria, Parasites, Microplastics, and Chemicals by Aaron Campbell

Update: Still like it more than I thought

Update: I took a pitcher of straw to a cabin in northern Pennsylvania where our water quality has deteriorated since fracking came to the area. I think it's pretty clear from my photo how great this filter is. On the left a glass of water straight from the tap (untreated well water). The glass is on the right after you pass the Lifestraw glass. Crystal clear and delicious, like pure water that has passed through this filter. Even through the filter, water flowed quickly no matter how dirty it was. Now I have to buy another one for my cabin. Rschunimagu. I still stand by my previous statement that this pitcher and filter is probably not large enough for a family of more than 2 people. I started keeping a second carafe of filtered water in the fridge just to make sure I had enough water. If Lifestraw makes a larger system, you can trust me to buy it too. Original Review: After a serious mold problem with another brand filter and a science experiment my daughter and I did on our city water, I struggled to find a filter that is amazing. Unfortunately, I'm not a chemist, so I don't have any fancy measurements. However, I was very impressed with this filter/water jug. The water is probably the clearest and purest tasting water I have tasted in my 38 years. Now I fill all my ice cube trays and cook with this filtered water. I bought it during a global pandemic and have peace of mind that it filters out germs - something I've never worried about. Pros: + Amazing taste + Beautiful jug (plastic) + Fast filtration + Smart design! + When filling, there is a stopper that prevents water that has not yet been filtered (in the first stage tank) from entering the glass. and play, setup is relatively easy. Just follow the instructions. Cons: + 2 spare filters (worth it for me given the quality of water I get) + Pitcher is large - so some shelves may need to be moved if you put it up. in the fridge.+Only holds 7 cups. It's only ok for my daughter and me. It would not have enough capacity for a large family. + I wish it came with the first replaceable activated carbon filter, that would be nice. Overall I'm impressed and happy. I think it's of great value, almost priceless, because I believe it makes our drinking water healthier. I don't have to be a chemist to know the amazing difference between tap water and Lifestraw filtered water. I can't wait to take it to the cabin and try it on the well water.

Pros
  • Long filter life. Life Straw membrane microfilter life is 264 gallons, approximately 1 year. The Life Straw filter with activated carbon and ion exchange filter is rated for 40 gallons, approximately 2 months.
