USB 3.1 is Gen 1 not Gen 2, it will connect to a 20 pin USB 3.0 at best. So if your motherboard has a legitimate 3.1 Gen 2 connector, it won't have connectivity or speed. It's true for the USB connector, but that's the old style of the old USB 2 for all memory card readers. A bold read would certainly suggest that this is a capable 3.0 reader, if not 3.1 all wrong. Will definitely be back when I realize what it's a waste of time. There's not even USB 2.0 on the front, why would they hide a USB 2.0 port on the motherboard on the back, except to think you're getting a 3 or 3.1 on the front of the card reader.
