Review on Novelty Lights Christmas Replacement Candelabra Light Bulbs by Shannon Myers

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Higher maintenance than mini lights and LEDs, but worth it for those of us who are nostalgic.

Nothing wrong with them; I've ordered about 500 bulbs and the vast majority of them work just fine. None of them broke. Like the C7 bulbs of the 80's and 90's, these bulbs burn out randomly. This means that some of them will work the first time, some will survive multiple seasons of use, and a select few will never work to begin with. This is nothing new for those of us who clearly remember having used C7 lights in the past. Take that into account and order lots of spare parts. C7 and C9 lamps have always been unreliable, so they were replaced by festoons and LEDs. Remember that these bulbs have a standard output of 5 watts each. You'll need at least 4 rows of 25 bulbs per 6-foot tree; that's at least a 500 watt tree. In addition to high maintenance costs, their operation requires high energy costs. C7 bulbs are not for the stingy or those who can't handle the burden of changing bulbs. It's almost impossible to tell the difference between pink and purple lightbulbs when they're on. The colors appear to be the same, but the pink looks a little bolder. Don't waste your money buying both pink and purple. Also note that the light wires themselves have fuses that can also blow accidentally, meaning they can blow when you first connect them. This happened to 1 of the 8 strings I ordered. Take spare fuses with you! In general, I am pleased with their presence. To me, the memories and nostalgia are worth the cost and strain that has always come with C7 lightbulbs.
