Bought for use with Shure SM58. It's okay, but not great. The foam is a good black color (not too grey, blue or purple, but true black). A foam has good texture if the word describes the open cell nature in the sense that it is not too rough, as in holes too large to have a rough texture, but not smooth, as in closed cell ones Foam. It's a good balance between those two extremes. The fit of the SM58 is fair. It rotates easily on the grille windshield, often making it crooked or slightly angled rather than straight. (If you're bothered by crooked photos hanging on the walls, this can be a constant problem.) Then the skirt doesn't very noticeably taper down to the mic body at the bottom, but simply hangs in mid-air around the mic body, like it has no idea where to go. Then the overall look for the microphone becomes a bit clumsy and unpolished. It would be better if the bottom of the foam was shaped to slope and taper more. As for the audio discoloration, I do TV audio and can hear a slightly (slightly) muddy sound with the windshield on and off, but only with headphones. When used with my QSC system, there is no noticeable difference between the microphone and speaker to my ear. In terms of efficiency, it blocks wind, including breath pops, which is quite different from a microphone. So overall a good buy, with some caveats. Although it's cheap. I'm always amazed at how expensive windscreens can be, especially branded windscreens made for specific microphone models. So, here's a cheaper alternative that works, but with a few downsides.
