Review on ๐Ÿ”ง Dorman 602-509 Windshield Wiper Transmission Assembly: Durable and Efficient Solution by Suhas Carney

The hole in the wiper motor bracket is too big. Doesn't fit right

I bought this for my 2003 Honda Civic LX. The wipers hit the A-pillar and underbody when I use the wipers in the pouring rain. This is because of the white plastic caps at the end of each stirrup link; they just break down over time. I doubt I received a defective product. All of the Dorman 602-509 images that I see have this problem. The bracket that is attached to the rotating part of the wiper motor is different from the original. The OEM hole is smaller and has grooves on the inside of the hole to allow it to catch on the spinning motor (allowing the wipers to spin). The hole in the Dorman product is larger and has no tabs. So if you tighten the nut and it's all over in the end if the engine spins and the bracket never catches on the engine by itself I would recommend either buying the entire assembly direct from Honda for $130 or you can too cut out each bracket arm -pillars are white plastic tabs. You will need two parts: 76540-S5A-A01 - Stem A76550-S5A-A01 - Stem B

Pros
  • Windshield wipers
Cons
  • Doesn't fit all
