Review on CasaCam Wireless Security Nightvision Touchscreen by Justin Gore

Revainrating 5 out of 5

MY FIRST IMPRESSIONS

UPDATE: 7/24/2019: I have upgraded my rating to 5 stars. You can watch my full video review on YouTube. Search for "CASACAM WIRELESS" in the search bar. You will find 3 videos to watch. 1. After checking with the manufacturer, they explained to me that the plastic case is protected from UV rays.2. The camera may feel warm. This is normal.3. After using the camera for several days. I found this system came with many options to improve camera performance. The video quality is very good. Customer service is excellent Two CasaCam night vision cameras, (this is a system without an additional spotlight) My first impressions: CAMERA: 1. The camera material looks cheap. It is plastic, not metal and not aluminum.2. The lens cap is plastic, not glass, and is more likely to be scratched and possibly yellow with age (like car headlight caps).3. The infrared LEDs on the front of the camera (they turn red at night) look badly soldered.4. The camera feels warm when it is on (day or night). I don't know if this is normal.5. The power cord with the included extension for each camera is approximately 16 feet long. Not long enough for most installations. They charge $10.99 for an additional 15 foot extension cord. They claim the camera is "WEATHERPROOF" but should not be exposed to rain. Probably, it is perfectly mounted under a canopy or cornice. You should consider building a rain/weather barrier.7. The bracket is adjustable, but it would be much better if it was a ball and a pan.8. The instruction manual is better than I expected, but not all the features of the camera system are clear. It wouldn't hurt if they used a larger font. MONITOR: 1. The monitor feels good with light weight. It should be 10 inch for the best view of 2 or more cameras in split screen mode.2. The kickstand on the back is a nice feature, but it feels flimsy and will likely break with a little pressure. The screen is touch-sensitive and responsive, but a little fiddly if you don't place your finger in the right place (make sure you remove the protective film or it won't work properly at all). 4. The menu bar is pretty straight forward and simple. This is easy to understand after playing with the system for a few minutes. The monitor can be unplugged and carried around. This is a very good feature. The battery life depends on the reviews I read. I used it on a small charge for about an hour and a half. Video: 1. The daytime video quality is pretty good. You will be able to recognize someone at your front door, etc. You will see cars driving up and down the street. You cannot read the license plate (unless the license plate is directly in front of the camera).2. Motion detection works, is adjustable and can be disabled.3. Night video is acceptable. It's black and white (which makes my blue eyes look really creepy) and you might not be able to spot someone that easily. The two-way speaker works, but not as well as I had hoped. It's tinny, and there's a lag between speaking and listening. You must press and release the talk button during a call to listen. Audio playback on video appears to be of much better quality than live audio.5. The SD card is rewritable. For better playback, I put an SD card in my computer where I have more control over the playback options.6. internet connection. I don't currently use this option, so I don't have a comment. CONCLUSION: It's not a bad camera system. The video is very good, especially during the day. The camera system has functions for time and alarm recording. The portability of the monitor is a great feature. I wish the camera was better constructed. I can't help but wonder at the durability of this camera. Of all the negative reviews I read about Revain, the manufacturer replied that most of them have tried to work with their customers to resolve any issues that arise, which makes me feel that this is a good company and that hopefully there will be improvements in the near future future . Of course, I have already spent my money on a product that is working very well at the moment.

Didn't even last 6 months before motion stopped detecting, and Tech support is non-existent.
