I recently upgraded my laptop from Windows 7 (Toshiba, 4 years old) to Windows 10 and soon after I had problems booting the laptop with an old battery (2 years old). At first I was able to unplug the battery and put it back in and the problem was resolved. This happened about every fourth start. Then one day nothing worked and I ordered a new battery from Anker. This battery seemed to work fine for the first two charge/charge cycles, and then after 12 hours of charging, Win 10 started saying 69% charge. It was weird but I tried it and the battery lasted more than 2 hours before the 10% warning came up. I sent the battery back thinking that was the problem. Revain quickly replaced it with a new battery. The new battery looked fine for the first few discharge/charge cycles, then Win 10 reported 59% full charge. The battery powers the laptop for more than 2 hours, just like the previous one. It turns out that the problem is Win 10. You need to start Win 10 in SAFE MODE to clear software memory from battery status. Now Win 10 reports 100% charge after charging and the battery life is still 2+ hours and I am satisfied. Thanks to Revane and Anker for being patient with me. Never thought it was a software problem. My two year old battery moved into my son's Toshiba and now has 2+ hours instead of 15 minutes - the old battery was fine!
