When I look at a third party controller I usually find one major flaw that becomes apparent after a few minutes of play, but this one honestly impressed me. The range of motion is actually superior to standard controllers. It has a larger thumbpad than the Game Cube but an octagonal closure and is the same as OEM N64 resistance. When idle, the stick has no play and does not drift. The dead zone is minimal - I confess I can't even spot it - it activates as soon as you press a direction, but not until you do. The best comparison I can make is the Brawler 64. The quality of the stick is on par in my opinion - which surprises me for such a cheap controller. The Brawler 64 stick is more similar to the GameCube stick in terms of drag. It's stiffer than the Brawler 64 and looks more like an OEM N64 stick. I also like the more modern form of the Brawler 64 than this one. If you want to keep the overall shape of the N64 controller, why not keep the whole shape? But I digress, it's just a matter of opinion. The shape is very comfortable. As for compatibility, it works well with memory cards and vibration packs. (I haven't tried anything more exotic, like a microphone or a Gameboy transmission pack.) With two controller packs and two extension cable packs that cost less than $30, it's also a great value.
