New intake valve on copper? Do yourself a favor and use them.
I just shut off the water supply, cut off the old, stuck valves, put them on the plugs and that's it. Misting new copper valves requires the system to be drained and sometimes flushed twice or more. A possible cost advantage is lost the first time, the second time.
