I have an old BMW 528i without a reversing camera. There are kits that allow you to use a backup camera through iDrive, but I really don't want to spend $650 and connect to BMW wiring. So I got this device instead. The monitor was installed to the left of the steering wheel so that it does not clutter up the dashboard and is somewhat hidden. Installation is pretty easy, but I ended up using a relay to power the unit directly from the battery rather than the reverse light. + as power supply (just use reversing light + as relay trigger). Thank God the battery of this BMW is in the trunk :) There is a slight delay between turning on the timer and turning on the monitor, see video. Because every time you switch to reverse, the camera needs to be initialized and there is no "waiting for 12V". But for me it's not that important. The camera itself mounts easily by screwing in the license plate screws, but partially covers the license plate (at least in Michigan). Overall it's good, I would recommend it to anyone looking for a simple setup with easy installation.
