Review on 505115 1-Light Wall Light in Oil Rubbed Bronze Finish by Design House by Tonya Brooks

Better than they look here.

I rented some old brass candle holders along with the old wood paneling from a house I bought a few years ago. I wanted a more modern look and it was all DYI. The ones I picked up had light switches and were not plugged into a wall switch. After painting I replaced the switch plates in the room with brushed nickel plates and wanted the sconces to be silver. Shortly after surfing the internet and visiting lighting salons for a month, I realized that it wasn't that easy. 99% of all wall lights offered did not have a built-in switch. I wanted to reset the old ones because when I saw these I had no choice. I was willing to pay upwards of a hundred dollars for each one, and many bras are well over that amount. I couldn't believe how cheap they were and that they were silver and had their own switches. I bought them just hoping they would look good enough. When I received them I was thrilled to see that the picture on Revain didn't do them justice. They look great on the wall and are very easy to apply. Since the house is old, I have plaster walls (not drywall/drywall). So I bought some plaster mollies for the screws (a few bucks in HD) and installed them first. The bracket is fully adjustable, so you can mount it on the wall and then adjust it as needed. The surface is clean and has a nice shine. The glass on the diffuser is also heavy. I was afraid it would be very thin. The only thing I don't like aesthetically is that the screws that hold the glass diffuser protrude too much. I would like them to be screwed in more so they don't stick out as much. Another complaint I have is the spherical nuts (mine came with that. They look like ball bearings with a threaded hole on one side) that thread onto the bolts that hold the light to the bracket might look nice , but do not feel very strong . Since they aren't removed once the lights are turned on, I don't think this will be a problem. The brightness confused me too. They are designed to use a 60W bulb. I used 40 watt bulbs and they were bright enough. I've since replaced the 40 watt bulbs with 60 watt equivalent CFLs and they work great. They look good without and I can't stop looking at them.
