I installed an Android based head unit in my 2007 4Runner (non JBL stereo) that already had wires to control the steering wheel switches. I didn't want to cut or touch the car's wiring harness to use this feature, so I just got that for the connector. I cut all the other wires I don't need (except the two switch and ground wires), pinned the wires from the radio and connected it up like an OEM setup. Update: After driving there were problems with the controls on the steering wheel. . Stereo removed for inspection. It was found that the wiring harness was not fully connected to the factory connector. After analyzing it for a few minutes I found that the Metra's wiring harness connector is not deep enough to insert the OEM receiver connector and prevents them from clicking together.
