Great little antenna with minor repairs. I am new to ham radio and have used this antenna with my HT for best signal. I have mounted the antenna on a Weber gas grill as well as on a four (4) drawer metal filing cabinet with great results. The first intended use of the antenna, mobile, was a big disappointment. Noise and static rendered the antenna unusable. What I thought was a picket fence or flapping was actually a manufacturing defect. The static electricity stopped when the car stopped and gradually increased as I accelerated. The problem was related to the loss of the tip or corona ball at the end of the antenna. I tightened the tip and voila, the static noise is almost gone and now the antenna is working just fine.
