The pump seems to be pretty solid. In fact, no sound is ever heard. Now my air pump is a different story. The only complaint, if any, is the inability to adjust the flow rate. Of course you can easily put something on the hose to slow down the flow. Definitely not like a cheap pump. The pump has a certain weight. Just feels well done. Another reason to buy this pump is the lifting distance in feet. The flow rises 5 feet to the vortex filter. Just know this pump is perfect for my aquaponic system. I will buy another one as a backup pump. Update: I'm still impressed with this pump. There was a problem with my mystery snails recently. From time to time they crawled over the screen cover. They kind of stick their heads out. In general, I thought that I had lost her. No, strong snails and very tame. The reason I'm posting is because this pump is threaded. I am putting together a sponge to attach in place of this pad. You can see from the photo. I have a threaded part and a performance head cap part. Snails no longer get stuck. So this pump has great options. Works well for the price. 😉
