Review on πŸ’¨ Prozone PZ6 Indoor Air Purifier: Black, Compact 6x6x1.5 Inch Size (Pack of 1) by Ashley Jones

Great purifier, sometimes a bad fan

This is my second Prozone air purifier, the last one I bought just a month ago. Both devices had a premature fan failure. The one I just bought is already making a high-pitched squeak. Checked by replacing the fan on the first. The manufacturer charged $45 to replace the fan, so I opened the case and checked the fan. It's a Chinese 3 dollar coin! No wonder they wear out so quickly. My solution was to place a desktop fan behind the air purifier to disperse the air and cool the device, and that actually worked better than the device's fan. The fan must not be running for the device to produce ozone. On the other hand, these devices work well as air purifiers and odor eliminators. I used it in 800 sq.ft. basement, and it doesn't smell musty when the dehumidifier is off. Just putting it in the dressing room for 15 minutes will instantly refresh it. The only downside is that they can smell quite strongly of ozone, especially when new. At some point, the UV lamp burns out and becomes weaker over time, so that the degree of cleaning decreases as the device ages. If you buy one of these devices, you have to expect that the fan will fail quickly. You either have to send the device back permanently, replace the fan yourself or use an external fan. The manufacturer obviously does not deal with the problem of defects in its product. Update: I just bought my fourth Prozone. Now I use two at the same time; one in the basement against the poisonous haze of the drying leaf (yes, the scent in the drying leaf is poisonous) that invades from the neighbors on windless days, and one on the ground floor that has lasted for almost a year now. The last two had no fan issues (knocking stick) and are much cheaper than many other similar products. Effects. Ozone is so reactive that it would be difficult to produce enough to poison yourself with this little machine. The average household probably has enough chemical emissions and other forms of indoor air pollution to keep ozone levels to a minimum. You will know if the ozone level starts to rise a little. The air begins to smell of bleach. When it comes to neutralizing odors, these little machines are second to none.

Pros
  • Produces only 'good' ozone that is 100% free of harmful nitrogen by-products
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
