Review on πŸ–¨οΈ MP10 Mini 3D Printer by Monoprice by Warren Hess

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Maybe good if you like fixing new stuff

UPDATES BELOW INITIAL CHECK: I'll update this once I get the printer working but for now here's my first 24 hours. expected and it went very well. The documentation is a bit thin, but for things that aren't documented, like wiring and cabling, you can figure out how to do it with a little thought. There are ways to run cables that will interfere with table movement, so be careful. - Thread feed. This was the beginning of the end. Monoprice sent a package with small parts tied together. See attached picture. Their length varies from about 2 inches to about 10 inches. Only a few pieces could be long enough to use because I was afraid to put a few small pieces down the feed tube - afraid they would get stuck. - Warm up and self-leveling seemed to work well. - Test print (I think it's a cat but I haven't seen it yet) is not very good. First, the feeder keeps saying there's no thread in it, when there isn't. If you check this, the feed wheel will turn but will not be able to feed the thread along the line. If I added some light pressure and restarted the pressure it would generally work again. This could obviously work for a print that would take several hours. Eventually the thread stopped feeding completely. I couldn't move it any further and I had no pieces left. So I was only able to complete about 3mm of proofing after a few hours (see second picture). It's hard to tell if it didn't work with this little sample, but I "think" I'm seeing cat paws? Online it seems that once you redirect the feed hose and upgrade to a metal feeder these problems go away. I ordered some more filament so I'll see what happens when I get a full spool. While this printing was in progress, I also attempted to set up a Wi-Fi connection. Monoprice says they have an Android app that lets you customize this. You are not. I believe they did once, but it's no longer on the App Store. When I search the internet, others also say it's not there. Searching the forums a bit, there doesn't seem to be an easy alternative. Relax. On USB. When I ordered the printer, I saw that it worked with Cura, which everyone I know seems to be using. So I went to their website and grabbed the latest version (4.2.1. Turns out they don't have the MP10 as an option anymore. Searching the forums again, it looks like this printer has some issues , which no longer support Cura and Cura BUT , Monoprice is true to its word and ships a printer with an old version of Cura 3.3 that still works with that printer, only it doesn't, it has the option to select that printer, it indicates it's connected, but it won't print or do anything other than let you save the gcode file to a memory stick. So don't expect a connection with this guy - at least not right away. All things considered, the printer sees looks like it "should" work. I can't seem to find much info on it, so I need to spend a few more hours learning how to get it to work. If I can, I'll do this review current alize really makes a fantasy tic-print work (cf. 3rd photo). appropriate). The adhesion of the layers is excellent, the products are very smooth and overall a really good print. Because of this, I'm increasing my rating to 3 stars. Maybe a solid five for print quality. I still wasn't able to get Wi-Fi or USB connections working as advertised, and getting a few brittle bits of broken filament was pretty lame. No stars for that. I think the average is 3. If I find a way to get USB or Wi-Fi to work I'll update this review.
