Review on Microsoft Xbox 360 Component HD Cable by Brian Shakey

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Quality Cables and Adapters

From the cable design to the output, this is a well made cable. Stunning clarity and vibrant colors - tested on Samsung HDTV. The cables are very thick, even where they diverge, and the ends are gold plated. I can't remember any other component cables I've seen that look and feel this solid. There is one small thing to note. about it but; There is no SDTV/HDTV switch like most Xbox 360 cables like this one. As far as I can tell, this switch enables or disables progressive display. (Why did these cables need that? I don't know - Playstation, Wii and any DVD player never do.) While this probably won't be a problem for most people, it does mean you need an HDTV to use this cable or maybe an SDTV that supports progressive displays (if they have them at all), since the Xbox will detect the cables and automatically turn on progressive. Sure, half the fun of these cables is the higher resolution, but sometimes people buy them just to read the goddamn text in today's games - so tiny! I almost returned these cables but left them at the last second when a relative found out they wanted to get rid of the HDTV so I could use them in the future. I'm in college right now and I'm stuck on SDTV (but luckily one of the best I've seen - a '96 Sony Trinitron I think.?). As I already have component cables for my Playstation 2 I didn't think it would be a problem but I think it would still work. This cable certainly looks even better than the Microsoft alternative (with the SD/HD switcher). and composite wires on the side), so I went with this set. Ironically, I probably should have chosen the other one.

Pros

Cons
  • Some Difficulties
